The McAllen Convention Center is gearing up for the highly anticipated South Pole Illuminated Festival 2024, presented by H-E-B at the McAllen Convention Center. The festival will run from November 29 to December 29, welcoming visitors from Wednesday to Sunday each week. The festival will kick off with the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 29, a cherished annual event symbolizing the start of the holiday festivities in McAllen. In this episode of “Outdoors with Roy” learn about the City of McAllen’s 96th Annual Independence Day Celebration. It’s a fun filled day of fun for the entire family starting at 7 a.m. at the 4K Independence Day Run, followed by the Patriotic Program at Archer Park. The Main Street Parade presented by H-E-B will start at 9 a.m. from Houston Avenue to Beech Street on Main Street. Don’t forget about the Freedom Festival at Archer Park. Later in the day go to McAllen Municipal Pool for Aquatica Extravaganza followed by the celebration at McAllen Municipal Park for Concert in the Sky with festivities, food trucks, and live music. Finally, the 4th of July Concert in the Sky at 9 p.m. at McAllen Municipal Park. Happy 4th of July.

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS,) a Smithsonian Affiliate, has a new exhibit called “Water/Ways” which examines water as an environmental necessity and an important cultural element. “Water/Ways” is a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. “Water/Ways” will be at IMAS until August 11, 2024.
